So all those lovely shots you may have of yourself as a very young child, smiling at the camera&#8211;or not &#8212; should not be considered evidence of anything that actually happened so much as early<em>\u00a0projections<\/em> of you by &#8230; your parents, no doubt, although\u00a0aunts and uncles, siblings, friends, or even you yourself may have been involved as well. All of them were intimately, \u201cinextricably\u201d connected to the device, the camera and all it entails.\u00a0\u00a0These are projections\u00a0<em>of the apparatus<\/em>, which is responsive to many pressures, assumptions, drives, memories, ideals, fears, etc, of which the human photographer will probably be only very partially, very occasionally aware.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\r\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Flusser insisted that photographs project possibilities, rather than \u201ccapturing\u201d or \u201crecording\u201d or \u201creproducing\u201d anything.
