Made at Roaming
Reproduced here is one of many images made recently at Roaming Penzance (see www.roamingCIC.com for more about the organization). Given that the group meets just once a week, and then only for a few hours, there is a lot of work. It tends toward small scale, in media with fairly immediate results–pencil, pen, chalk, some watercolour (as above), or acrylic paint– possibly reflecting the comparatively nomadic conditions in which Roamers usually work. The themes–a great deal of landscape, flowers, a few figures–is conservative, with virtue of tremendous flexibility. See the Roaming CIC page for a few more examples. But there is no anxiety, no fear of failure, no apologies, no thinking about “good” “better” and “best” at all. It’s wonderful.
