Writing and Roaming

Roaming is a small community interest group I work with, based in Penzance, near the western tip of this island. The group — usually around 6 or 7, but it varies — has established a pattern of meeting weekly to talk, draw, paint, dream — share food and news and an assurance that any and all of us can make new things. Under the UK social distancing restrictions currently in effect, we haven’t been able to meet for several months now. Most of us don’t have internet access — some don’t have permanent homes, either. But the postal service seems to be working better than ever. And we worked out a way of sending each other post cards! It surprised me a little how some who had been closely focussed on drawing or painting or making music suddenly started writing! You can see some of the cards at www.roamingcic.com.
